Summary:As we walk into Ms.Cho's class and sat down she began to collect are Extra Credit Assingment and Progress Reports.Then we started passing around and signign Thank you cards for parents  who help  and chaperon for are Field Trip. We then began to listen to Zacky present to us the Diary Blog.Afterward Ms.Cho came around came around and checked are homework.We started are new homework packet on Adding/Subtracting/Multiplying/Dividing Numbers filling in informaton about Positive and Negative Numbers. Then started the homework packet with doing some equations.For the rest of the period we began to finish are two buildings on Google Sketchup getting ready for the City project.We started caculating the area,surface area,and volume.We had to do the finishing touch ups and print out the buildings with the caculations.

Summary:

As we walk into Ms.Matthews Class we collected and stapled are papers  for the Thanksgiving Break Packet.Then we sat down and watch a video named "A Girl Like Me"while Ms.Matthews checked our homework. The video was about African American Teenagers talking about how people want to potray the "ideal" look of White,Blonde and Blue Eyes.Also,how children at young ages see the media as ways to act and become in the future.Children had a choice of choosing a White or Black baby doll for good and bad exmaples.Most children chose the black doll as a bad example and white as a good example.While watching the video we wrote two questions reguarding the video that we can dicuss and answer in our Socratic Seminar.After that  Ms.Matthews gave us playing cards to match our partner for the socratic seminar.We had two sessions of the Socratic Seminar of everyones opionion,comments,and questions.Our topic was about the review in the video.After we finished Ms.Mathews went over are Ad Project for Thanksgiving Break and we then went off to Ms.Cho's Class.

Summary: Today in Ms. Matthews class we got to our seats and did a background information paper on Toni Morrison's Bluest Eye. After that we took a short quiz on the book and Toni Morrison's background information and history of writing. Once we were done we read some more of the book. after we finished reading we took notes on media literacy vocab. once we were done with that we were off to Ms. Cho's class.

Summary:
Today in Ms.Matthews class we came in and spent the first 20 min doing our character chats with our patners. We had to give descriptions to the Characters in the novel The Bluest Eye. The characters we had to discribe was Claudia who is the main narrator in the novel. Freida who is Clauia's older sister and is more awear of whats going on around her,and Pecola who is a girl who has been put outdoors and aslo has nobody that truley loves her. Before sharing our descriptions out to each other we took a short quiz on the reading that was last nights homework. After the quiz we shared out the descriptions we took on the characters from the book. Next we were introduced to new Media Literacy Terms. One was rhetorical question which is get you to want the product. Transfer which is when they use the name or picture to try to sell a product. Emotional words is words that make you feel strongly about something or someone and Bandwagon which is making a person do something by making them think everybody else is doing it. Lastly we did a Ad Analysis. Ms.Matthews handed out two ad's per group and we were told to find the hidden and surface message in each ad. We finshed that and then we were off to Ms.Cho 's class

We also got a new worksheet from Ms.Cho called City Project challenge #3, This worksheet was more organized than the one she gave us yesterday.Today I learned how to had texture to my google-sketch up buildings.For the remainer of the period we worked on our buildings.

Summary:

When we came into Ms.Cho's class she had us start on our Warm-Up which was to do #'s:1-6 on the Equations With Combining Like Terms page in our packet. When we were finished going over and correcting the warm-ups Ms.Cho passed out our progress reports. She explained to us that if he had a "C" or lower that we need to work harder in her class in order to bring our grades up. With the 7 minutes of class left before lunch Ms.Cho allowed us to work on our homework whie she collected our floor plans that we did for homework. After we came back in from lunch Ms.Cho passed our next City Challenge which was to create a 3-D dimesional city building using google sketch-up.

Summary
  Today in Ms. Matthews class we started off by writing the journal.  We had two options.  For the first option we had to write about your role-model in any media, T.V show, etc.  For the second option we wrote about how we used to communicate with the adults when we were around the ages 8 and 10.  After we wrote in our journals Ms.Matthews gave two points to those who wanted to share it in the author's chair.  When we finished sharing we did the gallery walk.  I learned how books in the 40's represented an ideal form of a white family that consists of mother, father, son and daughter and how it resembeled a theme in Cannery Row.  We ended the class by reading Bluest Eye and answering the study questions.

Summary

Today in Humanities class we looked at tips to finish our concluding paragraph. We had two visitors come to our class today, Mr. Lopez and Ms. Mendoza. Ms. Mendoza brought us a Shakespeare sonnet to analyze. The poem was about how his wife was not the prettiest woman but either way he still loved her. This sonnet was to show us that beauty lies within. We discussed out different opinions of what beauty means to us and what the sonnet meant to us. After Ms.Mendoza taught the class, Mr.Lopez had another activity about how the Media is all about physical appearance. We watched a quuick video of the news. The story about the day wasn't about the war, or about a new disease, but about how a french designer said that Barbie has "cankles". We discussed who are the winners and losers of this situation. Other than the video, we read an article about how the media and advertisements influences even Brazilians. It made them turn away from their traditional curvy body and wish for a thin figure. i learned how the media makes us notice our flaws and want to change them to fit what they call "perfect".

Today in class we start of by doing warmups. We review how to solve equations by distributing them. I learned that in order to isolate the variable or number, you have to do the oppostite of it to both sides of the equation.After reviewing our warmups and correcting our homework, we work on our google sketch up of our floor plan. Our floor plan has to be exactly 1,000 meters altogethor. I discovered how to create floor plans by using the rectangle to create staright quadrilaterals of any size.

In Mrs.Matthew's class today, we learned how to effectively blend quotes. We complete a worksheet that we had to effectively blend quotes describing Doc. To do so we had to work in our groups and chose adjectives to describe him. We went over it as a class.We also talked about an advertisement another student in period 1 and 2. Mrs.Matthews went over how that ad. can effect both men and women.Time went by fast and before you knew it, it was time to go to 5th period.

Later Ms. Matthews handed out a sheet of paper Tips for blending the quotes this sheet helped us on how to blend a quote on a paragraph because we don’t want a naked quote that means that we need to introduce the quote, explain it an effective quote identify the situation/context , and connect with it. Then Ms. Matthews handed a other sheet and in that sheet we had to find the topic sentence, commentary, concrete details, and the concluding sentence . then we had to turn to our introduction and find the topic sentence and that it had formal language that means it can’t have I, you, and ect.

Summary: We first walked into Ms. Matthews class and were introduced to Ms. Hellerman our sub for the day. After we were finished with our hello's Alfredo read the Blog Entry from Thursday Nov. 2nd. We then went over the first and second option for the journals. After a couple of minutes of writing we shared our opinions to both options of the journal. Soon after, we were told about the questions we were supposed to answer to get credit on the video "Killing Me Softly." We then watched the video that was about how commercial and ads degrade women and give people the idea that if you don't look like the girls they have your not beautiful. It also talked about the secret hidden messages behind the picture. For instance, there was a picture of a womens figure as a perfume bottle. That portrays the image of a women no longer being " a subject but an object." After watching the very interesting video we got a few minutes to finish our questions and share them with our table. After that we shared our thoughts to the entire class. We also saw a video that was not on the agenda about a women being overly photo shopped to the point it no longer looked like her.

Homework: Solving multi-step packet pg 41-43 #'s 1-25

Summary: First Ms. Cho checked our homework which was 3-5 solving equations with variables on both sides #'s 1-15 and finish multi-step equations worksheet #2 (evens). Then we did our #8 warm up which was also more practice for our test on distributing and solving multi-step equations on Friday. We then corrected our homework from the night before.  Fourthly, we did ten problems on our homework worksheet. We need to get them stamped so we could get credit for our classwork. Lastly, we finished the day by going on Google sketch up and creating two 3D chairs. What I learned was how to create chairs that actually looked like normal chairs on Google sketch up and the difference between a problem that has no solution and a problem with any number as a solution.

After that we pasted the papers in our notebooks and started a new section on our notebooks called "Writing Terms" and the three terms were Diction, Tone, and Voice. Then we went over "Informal vs. Formal Language" worksheet which explains how to write a formal academic essay. After that Jordan read her blog entery. Finally we did our "Say/Mean/Matter" worksheet on "Cannery Row" and had to write down at least two quotes on the worksheet before we went to our next period.

Summary: 



~ Today in Mrs. Matthew's humanities class we started off the day by doing the daily diary blog reviewing what we did on the 3rd. We took a quiz(that wouldn't be graded, on how americans use electronic devises. After this we added another section to our notebooks called Media literacy.  For the media literacy section, we discussed the influence the media has on how we form our perspectives, and make decisions. We were given a worksheet and on this worksheet, there were images of photocopied ads, both of them advertising alcoholic beverages. The first had a group of men, partying in football gear. The add slogan said, "Not only do you guys wear the same outfits, but occasionally even the same makeup. Real men. real bourbon".  On the outside we would think that it it's just advertising beer, but when we took a closer look, we found that it does create a stereotype that only real men love to party and drink hard liquor, and anyone who doesn't fit this, is not a real man.   After talking more about this, we moved on to our Cannery Row Essay packets. It turned out, the essay we did on our test was actually a rough draft for an upcoming project. A couple things in our Cannery Row Essay packet included how to do proper citation, themes. It also listed words you can use to replace the worn out words we always use like mean,sad,and happy for example. We then wrote down our homework and moved on the period 3.

 Summary:  

Today in Ms. Cho's engineering class, we started off as ushual, with our warmup,consisting of 4 problems which revisited our worksheet we had to do the night before on 1-step equations with integers. As we worked on our warmups, Ms. Cho walked around, stamping off people who completed there homework. After going over the answers to our warmup, we swapped homework with our partner and did corrections. We then handed the homework back our partners and redid whatever problems we missed. After Hayley and Crystal read their blogs, it was then note time and we took notes on multistep equations as well as completed four of the problems on our homework to get a feel for what we would be doing tonight. We wrapped up the remaining thirty minutes or so of class watching a youtube tutorial of google sketchups, to prepare for tomorrow's challenge of making designing a chair. A couple tools we learned about included the push/pull tool which we use to push and pull in perpendicular objects, and the move tool, which we use to move end points and edges,selected entitities, and grouped objects. We quickly chose who would do the next blogger, which was me and it was then off to Period 5.

Summary: Today we entered in ms. matthews class and we had about 5 mins to study for the big test of Cannery Row. Then we took the big test for 1 hour n 30 mins tops. After the test ms. matthews gave us the set up media analysis reflection so we can paste it to our notebooks. Then we had to get togther with our labtop partner to do the survey monkey. We had to take turns to do the survey monkey. Then it was time to go to our next class so we packed up and left.

Summary:
Today we went inside and started to do the warm up and then after we did some homework corrections.  Then the instructors went in front of the class and started teaching us 1-step and 2-steps equations and we wrote down notes too. Then we started to work on the city zoning plans. The groups went up on the board and showed the class there city zoning plans and had to try to convince us why we should go to there city. Then lastly ms. cho handout our homework and we had to do at least 10 problems before we leave to our next class. Then it was time to pack up and leave.

SUMMARY:
 As soon as we walked in to Ms.Mattews Class she told us we had to go back to the forum o finish the rest of the presentaions. Before we left she went over the three papers that we got on friday again. Then we  were off.  When we came back we filled out how well are tag team partner did and how well we did as a team. We also filled out a paper that we had perivously set goals for our presenations on.  After that Ms.Matthews went over the study questions and handed out the study guide and went over that, too. OBJECTIVES:
SWBAT simpilfiy expressions and solve one and two step equations.

AGENDA:

HOMEWORK:
Solving equations using multiplication and division

SUMMARY:
   Today in Ms.Cho's class we came in and corrected last friday's quiz. Then we went to lunch, when we came back we went into our tutor and tutee groups.  In these groups we corrected our quizes again but this time we helped one another to understand what we did worng and how we can fix it so we dont make the same mistake next time.  There was another group who made a power point about one and two step equations they were called the instructors.  Then everyone came back in and we worked on the worksheet Ms.Cho passed out. We to do the first 5 problems on eachside of the page to go to our next class. Then it was the end of the day and we went to spanish or art.

Summery:
Today in Ms.Matthews class we heard Tiffanys Blog. After the blog Karely picked someone whos gonna be next and suprisenly she picked me. Then Ms. Matthews showed us a video on how to present our City Project. After the video we discussed the wants and don't wants for our city project. After that, she told us we could finish our city maps for Ms.Cho and we could also finish up our PPT. For the remainder of the period we worked on our city project which is due tomorrow.


Example:          Wants: Eye contact, speking clearly, be patient, Humor when     aproprient time.              dont want: studdering, speaking softly, giggling, taking to many pauses.
